Pressure Reducing Static Foam Mattresses

This page is designed to help explain how pressure reducing mattresses assist in the prevention of decubitus ulcers, commonly known as pressure sores or bed sores. It is important to note that mattresses of this kind work by increasing immersion of the resident into the mattress, increasing the interface contact area, hence, reducing the interface contact pressure.

WARNING: These mattresses are not recommended for use in isolation for patients with recognised stages of pressure ulcers.

Immersion of Bodies into Mattresses

Jomor Healthcare provides a rotation schedule which is printed on the sleeping surface of the mattress. This schedule should be implemented to maintain the longevity of the mattress. By adhering to the schedule on the mattress, the foam inside the mattress can recover, and subsequently perform to its maximum for a longer period of time.
